Chapter 425: Under Control 4
"Damn it! Indeed, he was trying to trick me!" Gu Xijiu clenched her fist.
"Who tricked you?" Si Chen frowned.
Gu Xijiu let out her anger in the Dark Forest, "That bastard, Celestial Master Zuo!"
Si Chen remained silent.
He looked at her for a while and asked, "How... How did the Celestial Master Zuo trick you?"
Gu Xijiu showed him the compass bird. She asked Si Chen as she pointed at the bird’s eyes, "Is this a compass bird? Is the direction where it is looking at South?"
Si Chen remained silent for a moment and asked, "Why do you think that’s South?"
Gu Xijiu touched the beak and the bird repeated a phrase, "the place where the Phoenix was reborn is my destination."
"This is referring to fire right? Its destination was the direction of the fire element, which means the South?"
Si Chen massaged his brows and said, "Have you heard about ‘The Indus is growing in the Eastern part and there the Phoenix came and was reborn’?"
Gu Xijiu shook her head, but she seemed to have figured out something, "So, which means its eyes were looking at the East!?"
"Exactly!"
Gu Xijiu collapsed to the ground, and Si Chen did the same. However, he was very obsessed with cleanliness. Hence, the soil on the ground was swept away by his sleeve.
Gu Xijiu was idling for a moment. Si Chen did not disturb her as he knew she had been struck by the fact that she took a wrong direction
"Little Cang, you’re such a bastard, why you didn’t remind me? Are you trying to pull my legs?" Gu Xijiu blamed the Firmament Stone.
The Firmament Stone felt wronged, "Master, I’ve never heard of that poem!"
"Is it possible? Aren’t you the ancient search engine?"
"I... I’m not a fan of poems though." Its main interest was about the interesting incidents and people in the world instead of poems or songs. It definitely would not have remembered it.
"I thought you’re a civilized gem, sigh!" Gu Xijiu looked down on it.
The Firmament Stone said proudly, "What we can do with those poems and songs? Those are for the poets to show off their literacy..."
Gu Xijiu had the same thought, "Celestial Master Zuo likes acting very much, why would he create such a complicated bird? It would be easier if he just indicated the direction. Why on earth did he program the bird to read poems!? And worse, a lousy poem!"
The Firmament Stone was always standing at her side, "Indeed! It’s too lousy! I guess only the scholars know about it!"
Gu Xijiu was communicating with the Firmament Stone via the telepathic technique so nothing could be heard by the rest. Si Chen was sitting beside her and randomly explained, "This poem was created by The Lord, and almost everyone who is literate knows it. Little Xijiu, how could you not know?"
Gu Xijiu was speechless.
Si Chen shook his head as he sighed, "It’s so scary to be illiterate. Look at you, you look bright, but I can’t believe that you don’t know such a simple poem."
Gu Xijiu frowned, "I don’t like to memorize quotes from other people!" This was not a revolution where everyone knew about the quotes of Mao Zedong.
Two full days have passed, and she has traveled from the third peak to the fifth peak. Thus, she needed about the same duration to return to the third peak. She would probably manage to escape from the Dark Forest within three days, which means, she still had enough time to escape from this idiotic forest if she obeys the agreed term of eight days.
She took out two fruits from her storage bag and threw one to Si Chen. She began to chew the fruit in her hand as she needed to restore her energy first before starting the next journey.
